After the immense success of the last two Round Tables in Sharm el Sheikh, Egypt in January 2007, and in Alexandria, Egypt in October 2009, we would like to continue the frank discussions of issues related to thermal plasmas as they are used in industry. The specific topics that will be addressed are the issues of:
Plasma Process Reliability and Scaling of Thermal Plasma Processing Technology
These issues will be discussed for the industrial applications of:
1. Plasma metallurgy 2. Plasma coating technologies 3. Plasma cutting and welding 4. Nano-powder synthesis 5. Plasma waste treatment 6. Plasma technology for nuclear applications 7. Reliability and scaling of thermal plasma devices
The format of the round table is such that interaction between the participants is maximised, with a limited number of participants and ample time for discussion. The majority of the presentations will be invited lectures; however, contributed papers can be presented in form of shorter lectures or posters. The venue is located close to Pretoria and to Johannesburg, in the vicinity of major attractions such as the Cradle of Humankind, the Rhino and Lion Park, the Elephant Sanctuary and many others.
Social events will be arranged where the delegates will meet some of South Africa’s Big Five, the lion, the elephant and possibly the rhino. During one afternoon the Plasma Technology laboratories at the South African Nuclear Energy Corporation (Necsa) or at Mintek will be visited and possibly the research nuclear reactor, SAFARI 1 also situated on Necsa site. There after all the delegates will be invited to a traditional social dinner at a tribal restaurant. After the conference the delegates may arrange with a tour operator for sightseeing trips to destinations close to Johannesburg or Pretoria, or more extensive trips to Cape Town, the Cape Garden Route, the Kruger National Park, or Sun City and/or Pilanesberg Nature Reserve. Registration An online registration form is available. This form can be used to book your place at the 3rd International Plasma Round Table. If you would prefer to fax the registration form, you may do so by downloading the form and fax it to +27 (0)86 549 0184. Upon receipt of the preliminary registration form, the delegate will be issued with a personalised registration form and invoice.
In order to benefit from the early bird fee, payments have to reach the organisers by 30 June 2011. Full registration fees are payable after this date.
