inorms 2010 11 to 15 April 2010 =Cape Town International Convention Centre = South Africa Managing Research for Impact: New Approaches to Research and Innovation Management
The Venue
Cape Town, or the Mother City as it is called in South Africa, is the second most populous city in South Africa (http://www.southafrica.info/) forming part of the metropolitan municipality of the City of Cape Town. It is the provincial capital of the Western Cape, as well as the legislative capital of South Africa, where the National Parliament and many government offices are located. Cape Town is famous for its harbour as well as its natural setting in the Cape floral kingdom, including such well-known landmarks as Table Mountain and Cape Point. Cape Town is Africas most popular destination for tourism.
Located on the shore of Table Bay, Cape Town was originally developed by the Dutch East India Company as a supply station for Dutch ships sailing to Eastern Africa, India, and the Far East. Jan van Riebeeck's arrival on 6 April 1652 established the first permanent European settlement in South Africa. Cape Town quickly outgrew its original purpose as the first European outpost at the Castle of Good Hope, becoming the economic and cultural hub of the Cape Colony. Until the Witwatersrand Gold Rush and the development of Johannesburg, Cape Town was the largest city in South Africa.
INORMS 2010 will be held at the prestigious Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) (www.capetownconventioncentre.co.za). The Convention Centre is ideally situated within walking distance of the popular Victoria & Alfred Waterfront (www.waterfront.co.za) with a large selection of hotels in its immediate vicinity.
The Cape Town
International Convention Centre (CTICC) is still relatively young as far as
international convention centres go, but much has happened in the five or so
years since it first opened its doors. The idea of the centre was first
conceived in the late 1990s when it was recognised that a truly international
convention centre would fill an obvious gap in the city of Cape Town’s tourism
infrastructure, and have the potential to deliver a phenomenal impact on the
local, provincial and national economy.
The CTICC has the most modern amenities and technology as mandatory ingredients, offering additional benefits to every user. These include a business kiosk, bureau de change and travel desk and internet access, a coffee shop, an à la carte restaurant and various other services.
Location Cape Town International Airport is only a 20 minutes drive from the city centre. Fourteen international airlines serve Cape Town, and seven domestic airlines link Cape Town to other major South African cities.
The physical address of the venue is: 1 Lower Long Street, Cape Town
